Lorac Mega Pro 3 review: How This Color Palette Had Me at Hello

Some of my favorite things to review are color palettes! Lorac’s Mega Pro 3 makes me feel like a kid in a candy store! I literally mean that. It’s like a box of chocolates, you don’t know what you’re going to get. Or maybe you don’t know what to take a bite at first. Because you’ll surely want to try all these lovely colors. So with that, I’m Just ecstatic to share with you my Lorac Mega 3 Pro reviews.

Aside from diamonds, a beautiful palette of eyeshadow colors is a girl’s best friend. You just can’t have enough of it. So I won’t leave you hanging any further, so let’s get on with it!

Of Mattes and Shimmers (Lorac Mega Pro 3 review )

Before we dive into the mattes and shimmer color of Lorac Mega Pro 3 palette. let’s take a quick peek at the brand’s origins.

Background of the brand

Lorac is a US-based brand developed by Carol Shaw. Carol is a PRO makeup artist who knows the ins and outs of the Hollywood scene. So when you say Lorac, only one thing comes to mind- Hollywood. Every Lorac cosmetic would remind you of glitzy Hollywood and famous celebrities! It’s also been a favorite brand among artists.

The brand has a range of cosmetics ranging from foundations, lipsticks, and of course, eye shadows. And Lorac Mega Pro 3 palette  is an absolute hit among celebrities and almost all women in Los Angeles. Lorac Mega Pro 3 is selling like hotcakes since its release date last October 2016.

Let’s see why!

Why I went gaga over it

It looks clean, pristine, and just plain elegant. The Lorac Mega Pro 3 comes in a white box with the brand’s insignia. And it turns the excitement up, this color palette may well have everything you need for a ton of styles. And for different skin tones too.

The box comes with an invisible magnet and a mirror inside. The writing is also in rose gold which adds a touch of elegance to the package.

Of course, you need to have your mattes and your shimmer. So lo and behold, opening the Lorac  Pro palette is like opening a box of git. There you’ll see 2 sets of matte colors and 2 sets of shiny shimmering tones. You have 16 color swatches of each category.

And if you love neutrals, this is like a teat! It has different takes on neutral tones. There are shiny and frosted ones. It has a combination of warm and cool tones as well. You can also find some summer and winter shade. So it’s like the complete colors for all seasons. 

What I love most about it is the colors are very pigmented. And it’s rather easy to blend everything. The mattes are soft and powdery. It makes a perfect base color.

For the shimmery colors, you can find a combination of light shimmers and dark pigmented ones that are perfect for a dinner date out of town. 

I find this color palette practical to have since most of us tend to stick to neutral tones ( because they’re the safest and easiest to work on too). And it also gives you the liberty to experiment on other tones. It has a myriad of midtones and pigmented tones for that pop of color. 

Here are some of my favorite color swatches

For the matte ones, I’m loving the toffee matte color. It looks natural and has some sort of a warm touch. And though it’s matte, it has a little bit of shimmer to it. And the dark navy and eggplant swatches are perfect if you want to achieve those seductive smokey eyes. 

I also find the matte mist appealing and intriguing at the same time. It has some sort of a silver shade. A matted silver that is. It’s like a marriage between gray and silver. I think it would look great or date nights as well.

For the shimmers, the tulle, snow, and cava are my favorites. It adds an iridescent glow, especially the tulle. While the pomegranate and rust add an interesting pop of orange rusty color. It’s perfect for summer.

Overall, the colors are great. You have a good balance between warm and cool tone, base, mid, and pop of colors. Both shimmer and matte are soft like butter too. 

Another thing that I also love about it is that Lorac is pigmented. You only need a light touch of your brush. So it also doesn’t make much of a mess. But they still can have a bit of dust so may pat your brush first before applying it to your eyelids.

What can I say, I’m in love with this color palette! You can go gaga over nude tones. And the thing is, it doesn’t need to be just basic all the time.

Matte

First row- dark navy, eggplant, pink cream, tan, dusty mauve, violet gray, pecan, and walnut

Second row- jet black, crepe, mist, toffee, maple, bark, vintage, and hickory

Shimmers

third row- deep fog, cava, brown sugar, sequoia, glacier, snow, cider, and bellini

fourth row- licorice, pomegranate, tulle, rose quartz, pink bronze, dark roast, olive, and rust

 You’ll notice right away that each of the color swatches is pigmented, So everything is really beautiful and nicely blends together.

The price

So let’s go down to business, the price range. Is it worth it?

Lorac’s regular Pro palettes can cut you back at 39 dollars. And you get 16 different shades and tones. 

While for the Lorac Mega Pro 3, it’s a sweet deal at 54 dollars with how many color palettes? 32 different colors of matte and shimmer! So if that’s not a sweet deal, I don’t know what else is.

Maybe that’s the reason why it sells like hot pancakes!

Any setbacks?

I’m contemplating if there are any. Oh wait, I think it could be the packaging.

White looks posh and all, but if you’re working with eyeshadows, it can get a bit dusty and messy. So that white box will have different color after a few weeks.

So other than that I don’t have any other complaints about it!

How do you spot a fake from an original Lorac Mega Pro 3?

This color palette is definitely hot in the market from when it was launched up until today. So there’s a risk of getting your hands on a fake one.

Well, apart from buying from reputable merchants, you can also check if all the color swatches are spelled correctly. And also be familiar with how each shade looks like. You can compare it with several Lorac Mega Pro reviews. Oftentimes, the colors and shades have a slight difference from the original one. 

And another thing, fake cosmetics can cause eye discomfort or even allergies. 

One last word before you buy it

Whether you’re going for a classical look or a smokey eye look, you need the best color palette. A cheap one can make you look less glamorous. And sometimes it can also cause some eye irritation. 

The Lorac Mega Pro 3 is one of the best color palettes in the market. It is of the most coveted that’s why it easily goes out of stock. I am pretty sure my review on the Lorac Mega Pro 3 will entice you to get one, or at least wait for it to be available on the shelf! Because it does sell hot!
